Land forces of Greece adopted a 12 armored repair and recovery vehicle (BREM) Buffel, built on the basis of Leopard 2 tank chassis. It is reported Defencetalk referring to the press service of the manufacturer Rheinmetall Defence.
In accordance with the July 2004 contract, 70 per cent of units and assemblies BREM Buffel, including housing, caterpillars, Repair and recovery equipment, electrical and hydraulic systems were made by Greek companies. Final assembly of equipment was carried out at the factory Rheinmetall Defence in Kassel (Germany).
Delivery BREM Buffel customer was completed in early 2007. Then all of armored cars passed comprehensive tests that confirmed their high efficiency and reliability.
BREM Buffel fitted with a lifting crane, bulldozer piles, winches, as well as Tank and other equipment that provides an opportunity to fulfill a wide range of tasks in combat conditions.
Recall also that in 2003 Greece has ordered 170 tanks in the German Leopard 2A6 HEL, 8 armored bridge Leguan, as well as tank simulators and simulations of combat situations Center. As expected, all equipment will be delivered before the end of 2009.
In addition, the 2005 Athens purchased 183 tank Leopard 2A4, 150 Leopard 1A5, 4 BREM based on the Leopard 1 and 10 armored bridge Biber.
