Russia will not supply submarines to Venezuela

Deputy Director General of Rosoboroneksport Ivan Goncharenko refuted information that Russia has signed a contract with Venezuela to supply submarines to the country, RIA Novosti.

Previously, it was reported that Russia on the supply of submarines to Venezuela said vice-president of the Latin American country Ramon Karrisales. According to Goncharenko, issue of arms sales to be discussed with many countries, but contracts signed for the supply of submarines to Caracas, from Rosoboroneksport today does not.

Total until 2011 Russia will supply overseas maritime military equipment to 5 billion dollars. The amount represents 21 percent of the total portfolio. According to the results of 2007 the proportion of marine technology in total arms sales to Russia abroad through Rosoboroneksport was 600 million dollars, or 9 percent.
